  1. This particular beam is a CCA pressure treated highway guardrail end treatment post (I know, I used to make them), hence the green color and 2.25" hole. They're free, sure, but I hope you washed your hands after all the handling. Chromated Copper Arsenate will gasify with the heat of the torch. Dude… they look amazing, but be careful with "free" wood!

  2. To add to your torch theme, if you burn the grain, then take a grinder with a wire wheel and go over the whole thing, it’ll take out the low part of the grain and leaving behind the hard part raised. This makes a very cool looking weathered distressed look. Then burn again and stain.
